The StanbyME Go from LG Electronics USA is a 27-inch portable smart touchscreen and LCD TV housed in a suitcase that runs for up to three hours on a full charge. Featuring four built-in speakers, screen mirroring (with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, iOS and Android) and voice controls, LG is touting its new mobile device as an “all-in-one entertainment option.” The 1080p display swivels, tilts and rotates in landscape or portrait orientation, and even includes a table mode for playing games. Priced at $1,000, it accommodates a full range of streaming apps courtesy of LG webOS.

“This is one of those products that I truly cannot wait to experience and review firsthand,” writes The Verge, warming to its “quirky, one-of-a-kind” charms, while Tom’s Guide weighs in with, “I just saw LG’s battery-powered briefcase TV — and it’s so much cooler than you’d think.”

“Surprisingly ‘serious’ features,” reports Forbes, reminding us that LG’s original StanbyME TV “was strange enough.” Launched at CES 2022, the 27-inch TV-on-a-pole had a wheeled base and could be trundled around the house.

StanbyME Go specs include the same AI-powered Alpha 7 Gen 5 processor “used in some of LG’s mid-range big-screen TVs. It also supports the premium Dolby Vision high dynamic range format, which carries extra scene-by-scene picture information to help compatible TVs deliver better picture quality than you get with the basic HDR10,” format, Forbes details, adding that the 20-watt stereo speakers are “apparently capable of delivering a (virtual) Dolby Atmos sound experience.”

The StanbyME Go comes with a remote, but also has voice recognition for hands-free control, LG notes in a press release. “Presumably, you’ll be able to download some content to the TV for offline viewing, but LG hasn’t indicated how much onboard storage the StanbyMe Go has,” reports Digital Trends.

Those who preorder from LG.com will get a free LG XBOOM 360 Bluetooth Speaker that lists for $300. “Preorders are expected to start shipping the week of August 28, but due to high demand, could be delayed until the week of October 9,” according to CNET.

Consumers “won’t be able to get a look at this truly odd product … in retail stores like Best Buy,” The Verge reports. “LG plans to sell it exclusively through its own website.”
