Samsung heralded the world of personalized AI at its 10th annual developer conference, where Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of Device eXperience Jong-Hee Han said those who own the company’s top of the line TVs will soon have generative AI, ChatGPT and a more responsive relationship with Bixby, Samsung’s smart assistant. The company introduced AI Cast, making it simpler to get intelligence from Galaxy phones to Samsung TVs. The Galaxy S24 series, released early this year, has native AI that will soon generate content that can be beamed to a sprawling TV screen.

Bixby will oblige with suggestions when you describe the kind of movie you’d like to watch and have more control over the household’s Samsung smart devices. “In the future, Samsung devices will recognize who is speaking and deliver a customized experience,” Han said during his Samsung Developers Conference 2024 keynote.

“Expect ‘an integration with ChatGPT’ right from the Samsung TV home screen” as part Samsung AI Cast, writes TechRadar, adding the presumption that “you’ll be able to talk to ChatGPT on your phone and see the results on your TV.”

Other news from SDC including an announcement that One UI 7, which Samsung built on Android 15, will be released in early 2025, likely with the Samsung Galaxy S25 series. Those who already own high-end Samsung phones may be able to try it before then, using a beta version that the company plans to release before the end of the year.

One UI 7 UX was previewed at the event, with the focus on a “simple, impactful and emotive design alongside more ways to seamlessly integrate Galaxy AI features into daily activities,” Samsung said in a news release.

“The new OS will feature a UI redesign, more customization options and deeper AI integration that will be more contextual — depending on location, surroundings, etc.,” writes GSMArena.

The phone will be reacting to your location, and while at home, the location will be reacting to you. “Connected devices and sensors throughout the home will be able to recognize your location to provide another level of personalization,” Han said during his speech.

“Thanks to AI, users will be able to control devices seamlessly and complete tasks on the go,” for a more wholistic integration with the Galaxy ecosystem, leveraging new “on-device AI capabilities for Tizen OS-powered devices,” GSMArena reports, referring to the Linux-based OS Samsung developed to run its smart appliances.

“Even refrigerators and vacuum cleaners will get a taste of AI,” GSMArena says.
