BeBop Launches New Virtualized Editing Platform on IBM Cloud
November 2, 2015
BeBop Technology has built a virtualized editing platform that uses IBM Cloud to offer a secure, cloud-based film and video editing service. The platform intends to facilitate greater speed and efficiency of media production while reducing costs. Software developer Teradici provides cloud media management with its Pervasive Computing Platform tech that enables secure virtual workspaces. Rather than moving content files between locations, which can result in errors and piracy risks, Teradici’s solution transmits only the pixels, securely on IBM Cloud.
“Running on IBM Cloud’s infrastructure as a service, SoftLayer, BeBop provides users with sophisticated video editing and post-production capabilities that address long-standing piracy and editing workflow problems,” explains the IBM press release.
“BeBop chose IBM Cloud as the foundation for its platform because of its use of high performing, GPU-equipped bare metal servers and multi-monitor support — unique to SoftLayer.”
“Softlayer’s secure and reliable cloud architecture provides a highly scalable and dynamic platform specifically designed for next-generation video-cloud services,” said IBM exec Steve Canepa.
“Via IBM Cloud, BeBop enables production companies to globally disperse workflows both cost-effectively and realistically,” said Bruce Long, co-founder of BeBop. “Companies can engage the best talent in the world and work collaboratively, regardless of location, and take better advantage of regional tax credits to considerably drive down production costs.”
