Apple Podcasts Creators Get Subscription Analytics, Linkfire

Beginning this fall, Apple Podcasts creators are getting more tools to measure user engagement and help grow their audiences, with the addition of premium subscription analytics and marketing tools provided by Linkfire, popular among artists and labels as a way to generate an unlimited number of smart links to pod landing pages and measure the ways listeners engage. Updated Analytics functionality lets creators use the Overview tab to see how many listeners started a free trial, the number of paid subscriptions, the percentage of listeners converting from free to paid, and estimated generated proceeds.

Linkfire is “expanding into podcasting this fall with a powerful toolkit built for podcasters, featuring an exclusive integration with Apple Podcasts,” according to an Apple News announcement.

The company has also added Podbean to its roster of Delegated Delivery partners, and promises to add Audiomeans, Captivate, Podspace and Transistor by the end of the year. Delegated Delivery makes “it possible for creators to publish subscriber episodes directly from their participating hosting provider dashboard.”

Apple says the Delegated Delivery concept has caught on since debuting in January. “Now, over 50 percent of new subscription episodes from Triton Digital’s Omny Studio are published to Apple Podcasts using Delegated Delivery,” the company notes.

“Apple realized creators needed better tools to understand their paying audience,” reports TechCrunch, writing that “with the addition of Subscription Analytics, podcasters will gain access to a new dashboard where they can track their key metrics around subscriptions and how that part of their business is growing.”

The data will be anonymized, however, showing only numbers and not users’ personal information, as Apple maintains its stringent privacy policies.
