The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced that Yahoo! will serve as its official digital partner for streaming live from the red carpet and behind-the-scenes during the Primetime Emmy Awards. This marks the first digital partner for the Academy outside of the broadcast networks. When the Emmy’s air on CBS on September 22, Yahoo! will deliver live streaming action from the red carpet, head backstage during the program, and offer exclusive content following the broadcast.
“The partnership significantly expands the digital reach of the Emmy Awards, with access to Yahoo’s 700 million users worldwide,” notes the press release. “For Yahoo!, the Television Academy partnership is another opportunity to deliver innovative content and the highest quality entertainment experiences to its users.”
Beginning with the nominations announcement ceremony on July 18, fans will have access to coverage leading up to the Emmy Awards on a special Yahoo! TV hub.
“Yahoo! will stream live from the red carpet before the show, offer the Television Academy’s Backstage LIVE coverage during the show, and report from the Governors Ball after the show,” explains the release. “Yahoo! will extensively cover all the events, news and highlights and will conduct profiles of the nominees, interviews with the key players, photo galleries, analysis of the vote, features on fashion and the best Emmy moments.”
Additional content will be available in the months following the Emmy Awards as Yahoo! will showcase the Television Academy’s series called “An Evening With …” The series features candid discussions with the creators and stars of popular TV shows such as “Game of Thrones,” “Revenge” and “The Walking Dead.”
