CES: TCL Introduces Three Models of RayNeo Smart Glasses
January 22, 2025
TCL announced three different smart glasses at CES 2025, led by the flagship RayNeo X3 Pro. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, its lenses feature full-color micro LED screens. The specs also boast a dual-camera setup — one for picture-taking and augmented reality vision and the other to assist with things like room- and hand-tracking. The midrange RayNeo V3 doesn’t have integrated lens screens, but comes with a 12MP Sony IMX681 sensor, on-device speakers and a trio of microphones. Rounding out the bunch, the RayNeo Air 3 AR smart glasses need to connect to a compatible USB-C device to create a 201-inch virtual screen floating screen.
CNET says the RayNeo X3 Pro and RayNeo V3 are part of a trend toward smarter, lighter AR glasses: “Meta’s already laid out a path to that future with current Meta Ray-Bans and future dreams of Meta Orion full AR glasses, while Google and Samsung have plans for AR glasses using Android XR.”
The 3-ounce RayNeo X3 Pro glasses extend the existing TCL line but have “gotten a lot smaller this time around.”
Pricing and availability on the three models were not revealed, other than to say they’ll come to market later this year, with details to be shared closer to the release dates.
TCL does share additional specs in a press release that explains the RayNeo X3 Pro’s Snapdragon processor features the Qualcomm’s AI-optimized Hexagon NPU, adding that the “proprietary ultra-compact optical engine” comprises “the world’s smallest mass-producible full-color micro LED optical engine,” delivering 2,500 nits of brightness.
TCL positions the RayNeo Air 3 as for “for seamless daily use” and comfortable “all-day wearability.” The specs support what TCL calls “exceptional image quality,” with 3,840Hz high-frequency dimming, a 200,000:1 contrast ratio, 154 percent sRGB color gamut, and 109 percent NTSC.
The Air 3 also debuts what TCL says is “an industry-first dual-opposing acoustic chamber design,” featuring four speakers for “the best and loudest audio experience in smart glasses.”
TechRadar reports “the entertainment-focused RayNeo Air 3” model offers “a wearable home-cinema setup that is ideal for making your travels fly by,” with the writer attesting “if I could I would have never left the demo and spent all day playing ‘Mario Odyssey’ with them.”
The overall tight and light packaging — “noticeably slimmer than Meta’s Ray-Bans” — means “they could be the best smart glasses for comfort while still boasting useful tools,” according to TechRadar.
PC Mag includes the Ray Neo X3s among its picks for “the “7 Best Smart Glasses of CES 2025” alongside more obscure brands like Rokid, Even Realities and Halliday.
