Intel, DigitalBridge Launch GenAI Software Firm for Enterprise

Intel has teamed with Florida-based investment firm DigitalBridge to launch Articul8, an independent company catering to the GenAI software needs of enterprise customers by offering secure, vertically-optimized full-stack solutions. Intel says the GenAI system can read text and images. It was reportedly developed by Intel to meet the security needs of Boston Consulting Group to run in its data centers, and later scaled for general enterprise use. Articul8 aims to keep customer data, training and inference “within the enterprise security perimeter,” Intel notes, adding that customers can choose between cloud, on-premise or hybrid deployment.

Intel exec Arun Subramaniyan has been named CEO of Articul8. According to Reuters, Subramaniyan said many potential enterprise customers have been expressing concerns about turning over their proprietary data to cloud computing companies for AI work.

Created using Intel’s IP and technology, the company will “remain strategically aligned on go-to-market opportunities and collaborate on driving GenAI adoption in the enterprise,” TechCrunch writes of the partnership with DigitalBridge.

“Intel’s move to create Articul8 is its latest move to seek outside capital for business units,” reports Reuters, which notes “the chipmaker spun out car chip firm Mobileye Global and plans an eventual initial public offering of its programmable chip unit.”

California-based Intel has been focused on challenging Nvidia in the AI chip space. “But beyond chips, it’s developing generative AI software, too, to take the competition to the likes of ChatGPT maker OpenAI, Google, Stability AI and Anthropic,” explains Quartz.

““Every global enterprise today is challenged to integrate GenAI capabilities into their workflows,” DigitalBridge CEO Marc Ganzi said in the announcement. “Articul8 has built a scalable and easy-to-deploy GenAI software platform that is already enabling enterprises to unlock value from their proprietary data.”

“With its deep AI and HPC domain knowledge and enterprise-grade GenAI deployments, Articul8 is well positioned to deliver tangible business outcomes,” Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger added.

While DigitalBridge’s venture arm is the lead Articul8 investor, additional funding comes from a syndicate of investors. Financial details and the size of Intel’s stake were not disclosed, but it was reported that the new LLM-focused firm will be independently run, with its own board of directors.
