Web-based design app Canva has raised the curtain on its AI-powered Magic Studio as part of the company’s 10-year anniversary outreach. Canva is positioning Magic Studio as collecting diverse AI tools to provide a “comprehensive AI-design platform” for business and home users that want to automate labor-intensive tasks like creating and editing images and outputting to different formats using generative artificial intelligence. Created for “the 99 percent of the world without complex design skills,” Canva’s Magic Studio offers many of the features now being built-in to smartphones and software suites, but easier and “all in one place.”

Promising features that “don’t just improve the creative process,” but “redefine what and how you create,” Canva’s Magic Studio offers help every step of the way, “from igniting inspiration to scaling your content,” the company says in an explainer detailing the suite’s many features, including those that allow you to “fast-track your first draft, automate tasks, design like an expert,” and more.

New is Magic Switch, which “allows users to instantly transform an existing design into another format, such as converting a blog into an email or social media post, without needing to manually change the layout or update the copy text,” The Verge explains, adding that it can “also automatically translate your designs into over 100 languages without leaving the page.”

The Verge calls it “a nifty way to generate multichannel campaigns from a single design” that “saves time for more important tasks.”

The Australia-based company’s new toolkit also includes a generative video app called Magic Media that is the result of “a partnership with AI video startup Runway ML,” according to VentureBeat, which says based on text prompts or an uploaded still image, “Canva’s Runway integration will generate up to 18 seconds of video based on what the user provided.”

CNET lists all the apps in Magic Studio, including:

• Magic Grab: Pick any part of your photo to resize, edit or move it. 
• Magic Expand: Make vertical photos horizontal, enlarge images or fix framing. 
• Magic Morph: Input a prompt to apply special effects to any image or text you create, adding hues, patterns, textures or other details. 
• Magic Edit: Remix your images with Canva’s brush and AI inputs to edit and replace graphics. Add a piece of clothing, turn a book into a puppy, attach a cupcake to a skyscraper and much more.
• Magic Write: Helps you write (or rewrite) captions, letters, paragraphs or other pieces of text with an assist from OpenAI prompts. For example, you can type “write a job description” and Magic Write will generate the words. You can even opt to have your copy written in a brand’s tone. 
• Magic Animate: Add lively visuals to your design — including fonts — with the animation tool.
• Magic Eraser: Polish up your images by removing unwanted elements with the eraser — including photobombs.
