NASCAR Rolls Out a Cockpit ‘Driver Cam’ Exclusively on Max

NASCAR has added a new experience that gives spectators a view from race car cockpits with its new “Driver Cam.” Courtesy of TNT Sports and streaming service Max, NASCAR fans were able to see and hear what went on from the driver POV behind the wheel, choosing from among up to 40 vehicles at the 2025 Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina this past weekend. Viewers can select and monitor up to four simultaneous feeds with an array of specialized video, audio and graphics features for the duration of the NASCAR Cup Series calendar for 2025, exclusively on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max.

The new feature offers NASCAR viewers “in-car HD visuals, audio, replays and a wide variety of data and other information,” writes TV Technology, noting that the Driver Cam feed features “a layered audio mix of scanner team radios and ambient car noise, all synced up with a 1080p Driver Cam feed on supported devices.”

In addition to the cockpit view camera angle, Max NASCAR broadcasts will feature graphics overlays displaying the driver, their position and status within the race, and data points like speed, engine RPMs, equipment specs and more.

Racing fans “will be able to choose between individual Driver Cams or two pre-set Multiview stream options featuring four drivers each, chosen based on the most compelling matchups and storylines each week,” NASCAR explains in a news announcement.

Automotive specialty firm B/R Racing’s social media channels on X and Instagram will “run a weekly poll to enable fans to vote on which four drivers will be featured on a special ‘Fan Selected’ Multiview stream on Max,” NASCAR adds.

Fans have the option to pause, rewind, and fast forward live video, as well as viewing replays of the NASCAR Driver Cam streams following each race, reports Sports Illustrated, explaining that the tech arrangement “was cultivated in the seven-year media rights agreement that TNT Sports struck with NASCAR in November 2023.”

“TNT Sports will provide the television coverage of five consecutive NASCAR Cup Series events beginning with the Atlanta Motor Speedway night race on Saturday, June 28,” SI reports, noting a $1 million grand prize.

PetaPixel calls motorsports a “compelling platform” for POV, explaining that in 2023, “Formula 1 began putting tiny ‘Driver’s Eye’ cameras inside all its drivers’ helmets.”

Unlike Formula 1’s helmet cam approach, TNT Sports and NASCAR “are opting for an offset camera location inside the cockpit” and including “other camera angles, including a hood view and a front bumper view, which are very similar to the camera views gamers choose from in racing video games,” PetaPixel writes.
