Nvidia is introducing a new AI feature for its RTX GPUs called RTX Video HDR that upgrades standard video into high dynamic range color space for customers that have an HDR10-compatible monitor running on Windows with HDR enabled. Announced at CES, the technology is now available for download through Nvidia’s January Studio Driver update. “PC game modders now have a powerful new set of tools to use with the release of the Nvidia RTX Remix open beta,” which combines “full ray tracing, Nvidia DLSS and Nvidia Reflex” with “generative AI texture tools so modders can remaster games more efficiently,” according to the company. At Nvidia’s CES 2023 keynote, executives revealed new products and innovations in laptops, gaming, the omniverse, robotics and auto technology. Nvidia senior vice president of gaming Jeff Fisher focused on the company’s AI developments, emphasizing that, “AI will define the future of computing,” and adding that “this has influenced much” of what the company is showing at CES. He highlighted the company’s “new era of laptop computing,” powered by its Ada Lovelace architecture, GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs and new 5th generation Max-Q technologies with DLSS 3 for quadrupled speed. “Computing is advancing at incredible speeds. Acceleration is propelling this rocket, and it’s fuel is AI,” Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said in his 2022 GTC conference keynote, announcing two new AI services: the Nvidia NeMo large language model service, which helps customize LLMs, and the Nvidia BioNeMo LLM service, aimed at bio researchers. Nvidia also unveiled its GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs, shipping Q4. Powered by the company’s new architecture, Ada Lovelace, the two new models — GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 — offer better ray tracing performance and AI-based neural graphics.
