YouTube to Tackle Misinformation with Crowdsourced Notes

YouTube is experimenting with a feature that allows viewers to add contextual “Notes” under videos, similar to what X does with its Community Notes. The Google-owned company says the intent is to provide clarity around things like “when a song is meant to be a parody,” when newly reviewed products are available for purchase, or “when older footage is mistakenly portrayed as a current event.” However, the timing preceding a pivotal U.S. presidential election and facing concerns about deepfakes and  misinformation is no doubt intentional. Amazon Launches ‘Your Books’ for Lists, Recommendations

Amazon has launched a new service called Your Books that allows customers to see all the books they have purchased, borrowed or saved across print, Kindle and Audible. In addition to serving as a reading history, the hub also serves personalized discovery suggestions designed to drive sales. “Simply type ‘Your Books’ in the search bar on the Amazon Store, and the top result will open the Your Books feature. Threads Lets Users Delete Accounts Separate from Instagram

Threads, the Twitter competitor launched in July by Meta Platforms to record-breaking numbers, has added features that make it easier for users to separate their Threads feeds from Instagram and Facebook. Users can now delete their Threads accounts separate from Instagram, something that previously confounded users. Because those signing up for Threads were required to do so either from their existing or a new Instagram account, the two were entwined. Instagram/Threads CEO Adam Mosseri also announced that propagation of Threads posts to Instagram and Facebook can now be turned off, to keep discussions separate. CES: 2023 LG Laptops Include Gram Style in Iridescent Glass

LG is injecting some glitz into its flagship laptops with the introduction of its Gram Style line of glass case iridescent portables. The LG Gram Style comes in 14- and 16-inch configurations, and like the featherweight gray units that came before them are slim and lightweight. The main distinction is the luminous, color-changing finish that LG says will “shine and shift dynamically, moving and changing depending on the light and angle,” with more exotic color variations in the pipeline. LG was displaying various patterned Gram Style lids at its CES booth in purples, pinks, polka dots and more, asking visitors to vote their favorites, with the winner said to be coming to market.
