In a CES conversation with Consumer Technology Association Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs Rachel Nemeth, FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter discussed the Commission’s work on AI-enabled impersonation fraud, privacy, and right of repair. Google’s Bard AI Is Getting Smarter About YouTube Content

Google’s Bard AI chatbot is getting smarter regarding video queries. Specifically, a new YouTube extension is now able to answer questions about the content of individual videos without requiring playback. “We’re expanding the YouTube extension to understand some video content so you can have a richer conversation with Bard about it,” Google wrote on Bard’s changelog. In September, Google released a YouTube extension that made it easier to find specific videos. This update allows Bard to operate more interactively, sharing detailed information as it relates to YouTube’s visual content. Apple iPhones Can Now Be Repaired at Any U.S. Best Buy

Apple and Best Buy announced the two companies are extending their partnership so that technicians can repair iPhones at any of the 992 Best Buy locations in the U.S. The companies also revealed that 7,600 Geek Squad techs are now certified for iPhone repairs using genuine parts from Apple. While Apple will continue to offer repairs at its own stores, the new deal should prove beneficial to iPhone users in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming, since Apple does not presently have stores in these states.
