Verizon Offering Free Netflix Premium with Peacock Purchase

Verizon is offering a year of Netflix Premium at no charge to Verizon Mobile and Home Internet customers who buy an annual subscription to Peacock Premium through its content subscription hub +play. That’s a $275 value (at $22.95 per month) in exchange for a $79.95 Peacock plan, according to the telecom company, which rebranded last month, launching a host of promotional plans in the lead-up to its 2025 silver jubilee. The offer, which started last week, ends August 31. The Peacock push dovetails with parent company NBCUniversal’s presentation of the 2024 Paris Olympics. NBC Sports coverage of the Olympics will include streaming on Peacock.

“Peacock Premium gives customers 80K+ hours of ad-supported NBC, Bravo hits, live sports including Sunday Night Football, Premier League and the Olympic Games,” while “with Netflix Premium, customers can stream from multiple devices, all in ultra HD and spatial audio,” Verizon explained in an announcement.

“Verizon keeps reshuffling its deck of various and sundry streaming bundle deals, aiming for new ways to appeal to bargain hunters — and to cater to particular sign-up goals of its content partners,” writes Variety, adding that “the financial terms of the agreements aren’t being disclosed, but Verizon is likely paying some per-subscriber wholesale rate to both NBCU and Netflix.”

The Peacock-Netflix Premium bundle joins other Verizon streaming deals including “several add-ons each priced at $10 per month: Netflix and Max (both with ads); the Disney Bundle (Disney+ with no ads, Hulu with ads and ESPN+); YouTube Premium; and Walmart+ membership with an included Paramount+ subscription,” Variety reports.

NBCU’s parent Comcast’s StreamSaver package “combines Peacock Premium (with ads), Netflix Standard with ads and Apple TV+ for a discounted price of $15 per month,” notes Variety.

“Bundling has gained pace across the streaming landscape, with third parties like Verizon continuing to build packages as well as streaming operators themselves starting to form partnerships,” explains Deadline. T-Mobile offers a free year of Apple TV+ to those who sign up for its $85 per month Magenta plan.

Bundling binges “are on the rise due to the maturation of the business, with subscription growth slowing,” reports MediaPost.
