Vimeo is launching Vimeo Streaming, a turnkey platform that allows businesses, creators, and just about anyone to create and monetize their own branded streaming service. The announcement was timed to the 2025 NAB Show. Vimeo suggests the new offering — described as “a technological leap forward for content and media businesses” — is the next generation of its existing over-the-top product that is already helping creators earn $429 million per month. The approach is similar to YouTube with more design flexibility and brand control, but living on the Web, outside the cozy confines of social media with its built-in audiences.
“We help you build and maintain your own no-code white label site and video streaming apps,” Vimeo explains on its streaming solutions landing page, urging customers to “build your own ‘Netflix-style’ streaming service.”
“The company says the product is ideal for media and entertainment creators, performing arts organizations, educators and e-learning companies, sports and event broadcasters and fitness studios,” writes Engadget.
“Customize with your logo, colors, fonts, and domain name,” suggests Vimeo. “Choose how your content is displayed with custom layouts, artwork, metadata, and more.”
In a blog post, the company lists “powerhouse entertainment brands” that have seen success with the model and offers compelling case studies.
“Vimeo is pitching less to individuals trying to build an audience from scratch,” reports Engadget, adding “you’ll need to contact the company’s sales team for pricing details.”
“The service includes tiered membership options, including access to live events and merchandise; custom video bumpers to promote specific projects or campaigns; piracy protection; advanced data analytics; and AI-powered translations to enable global reach,” writes The Hollywood Reporter,
Monetization is big part of Vimeo’s pitch. “We believe creators should be in control of their work and how they are paid, so we’re taking the technologies that are usually only afforded by the biggest platforms and putting it in the hands of our customers, at a fraction of the cost,” Vimeo CEO Philip Moyer says in an announcement.
Newsletter platform Substack also recently launched a video publisher with an emphasis on monetization.
Requiring no technical expertise, the Vimeo Streaming framework is compatible with “mobile and TV apps for all major platforms, including iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, and more,” Vimeo shares in the blog post.
